How to install Konqueror (Browser, File Manager, and more) on Windows XP?
Question
Hi,
I wanna know how to install Konqueror on my Windows XP (x86). My search on the internet tells me that it should be sth like compiling the source code of KDE using QT/Windows(!?) or cyqwin(!?) But I have no idea on how to compile it? I wanna know the exact for-dummies steps on compiling a Konqueror for Windows. OR any URL I can download a pre-compiled version of Konqueror for Windows.
Thank you,
Ricky Cheung
Answer
Rick,
I would start off by getting cygwin installed on your machine. You can do this simply by going to the cygwin site [1] and downloading and running the setup.exe program shown on the main site. This is all that is needed to install cygwin. During the install, make sure you choose all the available software (this will make life easier later on).
Next go to the KDE-Cygwin project page [2], and then the KDE-Cygwin install page [3], where step by step instructions are provided on how to install KDE (which includes Konqueror) under Cygwin.
[1] http://www.cygwin.com/
[2] http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/
[3] http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/kde3/installation.php
This should be all there is to it.
